Turning Over A New Leaf

been way too long! A lot has changed since my last blog. I got bored with p90x and switched back to starting strength + some muay thai on my off days. Not only that, a trip to Barnes & Noble led me to a book about a lifestyle I am familiar with and tried incorporating some time last year. The book is The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson. I found that and got pretty excited since I had been giving Paleo some serious thought. I also found The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolff. I ended up leaving with Robb's book simply because it was the last copy on the shelf. While not planned, it came right in time for a New Year's Resolution. Instead of explaining what paleo is or isn't, I'll provide one of the best links I've come across:

I had already started trying to eat right, but not as strict as paleo outlines. Our first strict day was Sunday 01/01/2012. That's right, I said "our." My wife is on board too, and I couldn't be happier. She thought I was insane the first time around. The next step is introducing paleo to the kids. My wife even came home with a paleo cookbook one day by a mother of three that was able to get her whole family eating paleo. The book is Everyday Paleo by Sarah Fragasso.

Now, when I say strict paleo, there is one caveat. Since I am interested in losing bad weight, but adding size, I am doing paleo plus GOMAD (gallon of milk a day). Well, actually, I'm drinking a little less than half a GOMAD. I'm taking in 16oz per meal, so 48oz daily. And, I'm drinking lactose free whole milk, since after my first 30 days of paleo I learned that I was lactose intolerant.

And...the local crossit gym has been offering one free week for the New Year, so I jumped on it! I have always been a fan, and always wanted to join a box. I even did the four intro classes over the summer, but $$$ was tight. What else is new? I'm at a better spot financially than I was, but I can't seem to get the wife's approval. I have gone for the last three days, and I love it. I don't want to stop going! I will definitely need to incorporate some strength training somewhere along the way.

Here's what the last few days have looked like:
